You have about 30 neck muscles, extending from the base of your skull and jaw down to your shoulder blades and collarbone.
They help you move your head in different directions and assist with chewing, swallowing and breathing; working hard to support and stabilize your head, neck and the upper part of your spine.
Because of the weight of your head (approx 5kg) and the neck’s high mobility, the neck and the shoulders are prone to tension and injury.
Constant phone or laptop use and carrying a heavy bag on one shoulder are two of the most common every day causes for neck and shoulder pain.
Neck discomfort, however, can also begin with a direct trauma such as a whiplash causing the ligaments and muscles to strain.
Neck and back massage loosens up all the muscles and ligaments, making the movement easier, pain-free.
Neck and shoulder pain can often be associated with headaches, reduced range of movement, a “crunching” sensation when turning your head and referred pain down your arms.
Massage for neck and shoulders can help eliminate these symptoms, bringing you release, relaxation and optimum movement
